Frequently asked questions about the EPSO AD5 Graduates EU Competition

EPSO AD5 COMPETITION · EU GRADUATES

01

What are the AD5 Graduates EU competitions and what positions do they offer?

The AD5 competitions are the EPSO selection process for permanent officials at Administrator grade level 5 in the European Union institutions (Commission, Parliament, Council, EEAS, agencies). They are aimed at recent university graduates with no mandatory prior experience. The positions are stable, with permanent contracts, and are mainly based in Brussels and Luxembourg, with the possibility of postings in other EU cities or external delegations.

02

What requirements must be met to apply for the AD5 Graduates EU competition?

The basic requirements are: being a citizen of an EU member state, holding a university bachelor's degree (3 years or more), knowledge of at least two official EU languages (one main language at minimum C1 level and a second language at minimum B2 level, usually English or French) and meeting the country's military service requirements (where applicable). There is no age limit. No prior professional experience is required.

03

What is the AD5 Graduates EU selection process like and how many phases does it have?

The AD5 process has several eliminatory phases: first, computer-based reasoning tests (verbal, numerical and abstract); then, profile-specific tests (EU Knowledge, Digital Skills); next, the Written Test (EUFTE), a competency-based interview and, in some processes, an oral presentation. Each phase is independently eliminatory. The full process usually takes between 9 and 15 months from the publication of the competition notice.

04

How much does an EU AD5 official earn and what benefits do they have?

An AD5's base salary is around €6,000 gross per month. On top of this there are allowances for expatriation, family and children's schooling, an EU-funded pension and a special EU tax regime (not taxed in the member states). These are clearly better conditions than those of the equivalent Spanish national civil service.

05

What does the EU Campus Complete Graduates AD5 Programme include and what savings does it offer?

The Complete Graduates AD5 Programme includes the four modules of the profile: Reasoning, EU Knowledge, Digital Skills and EUFTE (Written Test). Integrated price of €890, compared with more than €1,000 that the modules would cost if purchased separately. It covers the specific tests of the EPSO process, from the initial reasoning screening to the written test.
